Joe Lewis, also known as Jo MaMa, has been a Chicago resident for over a decade and an active member of the queer community for even longer. They now reside in Atlanta. Jo MaMa is renowned for wearing multiple hats, both figuratively and metaphorically. They express themselves through various art forms, including drag, photography, and other mediums, all while producing shows and working in various operational entertainment and nightlife capacities. Recently, Jo has channeled their efforts and activism towards the current movement against racial injustice and societal and political oppression. This is evident in their organization of the Drag March for Change and participation in multiple other actions within the movement. As a founding member of the Chicago Black Drag Council and a recipient of The Out 100 for Out Magazine in 2020, Jo MaMa continues to make impactful contributions to society and the creative world.
